Westbourne Academy

A brochure site

The Westbourne Academy is one of many schools in Bournemouth teaching English to foreign students. With such stiff competition, they needed a site that would help them stand out from the crowd.

The site needed to contain all the information potential and existing students might need, and display it in a more simplified and easy to navigate manner than their previous site, which was cluttered and especially difficult to use if the user didn't have a strong grasp of English

Working with the school staff, I was able to refine and re-order the content to fit 8 headers, designed to be clear and simple to read with just a basic knowledge of English.

The site was built on a custom CMS developed to allow the school staff to transfer their knowledge of Microsoft Word to modify the site content with the minimum of training.

Since the site launch, the school have recieved a number of compliments from agents across the world.

The Consortium

An e-commerce site

The Consortium is a bar, club and shop in Bournemouth. They approached me in 2007 to work with their in house designer to develop a new sie based on their concepts.

I developed a simple CMS to allow them to add, edit and remove products from the site as well as content on static pages. They were keen to streamline the buying process for users, and happy to work with me on any ideas I could bring to the table.

The site was built with PHP and MySQL, and uses a combination of .htaccess URL rewriting and PHP to clean up the URL structure, making it more accessible to returning users.

The site is currently undergoing maintenance to re-open in conjunction with the physical store, which is currently undergoing refurbishment.
